- あざな【字】(1)中国で， 男子が成人後， 実名のほかにつけた名。 実名を知られることを忌(イ)む風習により生じ， 字がつくと実名は諱(イミナ)といってあまり使わなかった。 日本でも漢学者などが用いた。→ 名(2)他人が呼びならわした本名以外の名。 あだな。(3)町や村の中の一区画。 あざ。
